C
hildren of all ages are welcome. Typically, children 12 and under ride with an adult, in the front of a Double Kayak. For people that are not strong swimmers or comfortable in ocean conditions, we recommend a paddling trip up the canal to Enchanted Lake. These are protected and calm waters and are home to hundreds of birds, including Crested Night Herons and Egrets. Life vests (PFD) for all sizes and weights are provided from 30 to 280 Pounds. Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks carries Hawaii’s largest fleet of rental kayaks and accessories featuring the latest designs of stable, easy to use ocean kayaks for the beginner and high performance kayaks for the advanced. All boats are self-bailing and easy to right.

Launching is 100 Yards from our shop (Kailua Beach Center) at Kailua Beach Park. Popular kayaking destinations include Popoia (Flat Island), the Mokulua Islands and Lanikai Beach. Sightings of the protected Green Sea Turtle are very common, so are sightings of the Wedge-tailed Shearwater and a variety of shorebirds such as the Pacific Golden Plover and Ruddy Turnstone. Sometimes the protected Hawaiian Monk Seal make an appearance, a protected and endangered mammal, native to Hawaii. Snorkels can also be great to pack along to explore the coral heads along Lanikai Beach and the Mokulua Islands. Just pull you kayak up on the beach, above the high-tide mark.
