On March 17th, Kailua Beach Adventures partnered with Navy Squadron VP-47 from Marine Core Base Hawaii and 808 Cleanups for an epic St. Patrick’s day Beach Cleanup. The crew dug in for 4 hours in the misty morning and collected 57 pounds of trash, most of which was micro-plastics. Micro-plastic is one of the most nefarious types of debris because animals, particularly birds, confuse the brightly colored bits for food and end up eating it themselves and feeding it to newborns, resulting in countless deaths. The efforts are certainly appreciated by the environment as well as the community, as it provides a much nicer beach experience. Well done guys, keep it up!
